Hi, my name is Jordon Briggs, I was born in Los Angeles and raised in Sacramento, CA. I have lived in New York where I also call home and currently live in Oakland, CA.  I am a writer and filmmaker who explores the experiences, philosophies, ideas, histories, theories, and emotions that make up the human experience.

I tell nuanced stories that invite the audience into an engaging experience and presents his subjects’ humanity in a warm and thoughtful manner. I write and make film across genres, disciplines, and forms and have published short fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, film criticism, personal essay, and more.

My first documentary "Her Hair," about black female hairstylists and their clients who together create a communal culture around hair care that helps one another preserve their humanity, was a 2022 finalist for SF3 Smartfone Flickfest's Best Feature Film category. A sample of my current documentary in progress,“Nikkei Town,” as a co-writer and co- director has been screened at Oakland Asian Cultural Center for a filmmaker mixer in the Spring 2023 and I participated in a director’s panel at this event.

I received my MFA in Creative Writing from Saint Mary’s College of California, and my BA in Film from CSU-Sacramento. I currently live in Oakland, CA.
